GOLF IN THE ORLANDO AREA
It is not unusual these days for pro tour golf players to add their name to golf courses as the appointed 'travelling' professional.
Have you ever wondered where these professionals go when they are not playing tournaments? Well, for over 50 players, home is Orlando!
To over 30 PGA Tour players Orlando is home. When names like Tiger Woods, Corey Pavin and Earnie Els alongside other names such as Arnold Palmer and Gary Player make the area of Orlando their home then you can expect to find many high grade courses for them to practice on. Indeed names like Greg Norman, Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer have even designed local courses.
For game improvement, many have developed their own 'golfing academies'. David Leadbetter's Academy is just 5 minutes from The Abbey at the Champions Gate complex. In fact there are 123 courses and 6 academies within 45 minutes of downtown Orlando.
Highlighted below are details of just two such golfing facilities that are close to our homes and both facilities accept you as visiting players. At busy periods it is best to pre book your tee times and then enjoy all the facilities as do all full members of every level of ability.
Located just 5 minutes from The Abbey, Champions Gate is the new golfing experience in the area designed by Greg Norman.
Sweeping across the Orlando landscape are two championship grade courses, The National and International, alongside the sizable and extensive clubhouse. The dining facilities can be enjoyed by all golfers and non playing visitors. You can browse through the retail outlets alongside additional extensive leisure facilities as well as golfing equipment outlets, after taking advantage of the valet parking.
In addition to David Leadbetter's Academy, take advantage of the iced towel service and the GPS Caddy System on the buggy and ball. This system acts as a professional adviser that gives you the opportunity to improve your skills and enhance your overall standard of play.
Greg Norman has blended tradition and modern elements to create a unique golf experience. Whether you chose to play
the International with its authentic links style golf reminiscent of the great British Isles seaside courses, or the National
traditional American style, you will experience a challenging round.

THE RIDGEWOOD LAKES GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB |
Just 10 minutes from both properties The Ridgewood has received many accolades since it opened 8 years ago. The course layout is sculptured from lush rolling land and provides immaculate playing conditions year round. Water and natural wetlands come into play on 16 out of the 18 holes and the resident breeze can significantly change the course from day to day.
Despite the natural beauty and obvious pedigree of the layout, with four sets of tees the course is still enjoyable for golfers of all levels.
